McCune and Murphy Physical Therapy, P.C. is the most established private practice in Tompkins County. Our diverse staff includes Doctors of Physical Therapy; Fellowship trained physical therapists; Orthopedic Clinical Specialists and Physical Therapy Assistants. As specialists, we combine an evaluation and treatment approach that utilizes therapeutic exercise prescription and hands on manual therapy. Our staff and facilities continue to grow, offering services at convenient locations in Ithaca, Dryden, and Trumansburg.
David A. McCune
PT, DPT, MPHTY ST, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. David A. McCune is a licensed physical therapist who received his Master’s in Manipulative Physical Therapy from The University of Queensland in Australia and his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Upstate Medical University. He is also an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) in physical therapy and is on the faculty at Upstate Medical University. Dr. McCune specializes in spinal care, athletic rehabilitation, and the treatment of orthopedic conditions. Having authored chapters in orthopedic physical therapy textbooks as well as professional journals, he has been asked to speak throughout the U.S. and abroad on topics related to management of spinal dysfunction and lower extremity biomechanics. Dr. McCune is a member of the Orthopedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Australia, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT).
Outside of his professional pursuits, Dave enjoys hiking, skiing, woodworking, kayaking, and fly-fishing. He is active in the community in many non-profit organizations and lives with his wife, Sally, and children in Ithaca.
PT, DPT, OCS
Dr. Brianna Peters is a licensed physical therapist and proud alumna of Ithaca College, where she received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. She focuses on patients with general orthopedic and geriatric issues. Dr. Peters serves as the Aquatic Director at McCune and Murphy, meeting with patients twice weekly in the pool to direct low impact therapy sessions catered to the specific needs of each individual.
Personally, Brianna enjoys hiking, local restaurants, live music, a good laugh, and snuggling with her dog Finn.
PT, DPT, CSCS
Dr. Jason Tuori is a licensed physical therapist who received his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Upstate Medical University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and is certified as a Level 1 USA Track and Field coach. Jason is an active member of the local running community and competes regularly in distances ranging from 800 meters to the marathon. In his spare time, he enjoys rock climbing, playing music, and reading physical therapy research.

Mark C. Murphy is licensed physical therapist and an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) who received his professional physical therapy education from Gannon University. His areas of clinical expertise are in orthopedics, sports injuries, and vestibular rehabilitation. He is a member of the Orthopedic and Private Practice Sections of the American Physical Therapy Association and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT).
Mark provides athletic training services for the Dryden Central School District and is active in the Dryden community through Sertoma, youth coaching, and public service. He enjoys outdoor activities with his wife and two children, and can often be found pursuing his passion for fly-fishing and outdoor sports.
Dr. Jasmine O. Marcus is a licensed physical therapist who received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Columbia University. At Columbia, she was a Merit Scholar and studied in the Advanced Orthopedic Track. Dr. Marcus attended Cornell University, graduating with distinction with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. She is a member of the Orthopedics section of the American Physical Therapy Association, and has taken numerous continuing education courses in advanced orthopedic rehabilitation. Dr. Marcus, a former journalist, is also a frequent contributor to physical therapy websites and blogs.
When she isn't working, Jasmine can be found at the gym, writing, or visiting her family. She and her husband, an assistant coach of the Cornell men's basketball team, live in Lansing.

Dr. Lauren D. Potter is a licensed physical therapist and Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) who received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Utica College. She did her post-graduate Orthopedic Residency with Evidence in Motion Group. Dr. Potter is currently continuing her specialized orthopedic physical therapy education with the North American Institute of Manual Therapy. She also serves as the clinical coordinator for McCune and Murphy’s student clinical education program and has trained several student physical therapists.
Lauren is an active member of the community through Sertoma and the high school program Serteen and lives in Dryden with her husband and son.
Dr. Cati Hartz (nee Elberty), a licensed physical therapist, attended Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y. for both her undergraduate and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degrees. In addition to general orthopedics, her professional expertise includes working with children addressing orthopedic and neurological concerns, treating neurological injuries/impairments, assessing patients with developmental differences, and assisting patients with jaw pain.
Originally from Dryden, Cati enjoys living and working near her family. She enjoys hiking and exploring the outdoors with her husband, Matt, as well as playing with their Boston Terrier. Hobbies outside of work include reading, crafting (painting and knitting), as well as running, snowshoeing, and spending time on Cayuga Lake.
PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANTS
Ms. Shanine Turner is a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) and graduate of Broome Community College, where she graduated with her Associate’s Degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Ms. Turner brings her extensive expertise in therapeutic exercise programs to those experiencing sports and orthopedic related injuries using her certifications in weight training and various manual therapy techniques. She has been an integral part of the rehabilitation team at McCune and Murphy for over 15 years.
Shanine enjoys working with her community through her church, school, and community planned events. She has served as a guest instructor for injury prevention with her daughters’ sports teams, as well as a volunteer at local races, triathlons, and sports clinics. She is also a registered Girl Scout working with her local junior troop. In her free time, she enjoys taking Zumba classes and hiking with her family. She currently resides in Newfield with her husband and two daughters.
Mr. Aaron Frost is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) who earned his Associate’s Degree from Broome Community College as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Mr. Frost has a professional expertise in fall prevention for the older adult and outpatient orthopedics. He also is skilled in the rehabilitation of injured athletes. In addition, Aaron instructs the Ageless Agility and Ageless Fitness Classes in our Trumansburg office.
Aaron can often be found participating in outdoor activities, including restoring classic trucks, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, four-wheeling, working out, and shooting sports.
Ms. Katrina Hamer is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) who earned her degree from SUNY Broome community college. Ms. Hamer also attended Lock Haven University where she earned her Bachelors of Health Science. Ms. Hamer has a unique understanding of the human body and its biomechanics thanks to her prior profession, dancing at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Illinois Ballet. Her former career lends to her remarkable take on functional rehabilitation and strength training.
