Women's Health Women have different healthcare needs than men. This is most apparent in their musculoskeletal health. Beginning in adolescents, hormones are released in preparation for menstruation. This release results in changing the integrity of ligaments. The shape of the female pelvis changes and weakness in the hips and core become more obvious. Young females tend to have more ACL tears, knee and hip pain as a result. |

Aquatic Therapy Program The McCune, Ainslie and Associates aquatic therapy program is a program that employs the gentle environment of a pool to assist in rehabilitation. One-on-one assistance is employed in assisting patients in the specific exercises prescribed for their particular problem. Pool based therapy is ideal for providing an "anti-gravity" environment for the rehabilitation of lower extremity fractures, low back pain and post-operative conditions. When in the pool, water pressure on the body aids in the reduction of inflammation and edema and the reduction of pain. Free from the influence of gravity, exercises can be performed more easily and without pain. Your physical therapist or doctor may suggest that you participate in an aquatic therapy program as a part of your rehabilitation. |
